Breastfeeding Support

At The Possums Clinic, we provide compassionate, evidence-based breastfeeding and lactation support tailored to you and your baby.

Our practitioners are trained in the gestalt method of fit and hold, developed by Dr Pamela Douglas and colleagues. This approach focuses on helping parents and babies find a comfortable, responsive way of feeding, and research has demonstrated immediate reductions in breastfeeding pain and infant fussing following the intervention (see below).

Your consultation is tailored to your needs and may include:

  • Comprehensive feeding assessment

  • Observation of a feed, where possible, with support for fit and hold

  • Oral assessment, where clinically indicated

  • Practical strategies and personalised recommendations

Antenatal breastfeeding support

You don't need to wait until your baby arrives to seek support.

We offer antenatal breastfeeding education through individual in-person consultations, as well as our When Baby Comes Home group class, helping you build practical knowledge and confidence before your baby arrives.
